About The WW1 Game Series

The WW1 Game Series is a series of intense multiplayer first-person shooters delivering authentic and immersive First World

War action on PC and Console. 

The series contains Verdun (2015), Tannenberg (2019) and Isonzo (2022).

With the launch of the critically-acclaimed Isonzo in September 2022 our team has reached an important milestone in delivering a quality multi-platform game.

BlackMill Games is looking for an experienced (mid - senior) Environment Artist with a passion for history to work on our series of WW1-themed multiplayer first-person shooters. We are looking for a passionate artist who can bridge the gap between Level art, Design and our 3D/Prop artists. 

Responsibilities

  • Create immersive environments: Design and Develop expansive maps in large-scale environments, Set dressing of POI’s in the maps. 

  • Prototyping and content planning: Work hand in hand with level design, prototyping designs, Work out designs into optimised modular sets, Plan level content, guard overscoping, and estimate time.

  • Maintain quality standards: Ensure environments meet quality and technical standards, keep checks on optimisation. Uphold naming conventions and storing source assets.

  • Cross-team collaboration: Work together with the Art Director, level designers and 3D/Prop Artist. Ensuring seamless collaboration and bridging between departments.

  • Innovation and Knowledge sharing: Involvement and development of using and sharing tools to improve visual quality and optimise workflows. Documenting workflows for internal sharing between artists and other departments.

Expected skills

  • Artistic skills: 

    • Interpreting reference images or concept art and faithfully & accurately recreating it into the 3D World

    • Sense of scale and Composition 

    • Keen eye for Color and materials

  • 3D Skills

    • Creating accurate blockout models 

    • Converting blockouts into workable modular sets

    • High to lowpoly workflow

    • Uving, Baking and Texturinga

    • Working with Trimsheets

    • Full understanding of modelling to create high-quality architecture and organic models

Other requirements

  • Game engine experience

    • Understanding of importing and setting up assets in the engine

    • Understanding of tools to set dress in the engine 

    • Understanding of landscape tools

  • Fully Remote work experience

    • Self motivated

    • Collaborative mindset
